Change coffee or ratio to get water; change water to get coffee. 1 g of water ≈ 1 ml.
Steps
- Mix coarse coffee and cold water in a jar; stir to wet all grounds.
- Cover and steep 12–18 hours at room temperature or up to 24 in the fridge.
- Filter through a paper filter or fine cloth.
- Dilute concentrate 1:1 with water or milk to taste and serve over ice.
Common mistakes
- Fine grind: over-extracted, muddy brew that is hard to filter.
- Steeping far beyond 24 hours: woody, flat flavors.
These are starting points. Adjust grind first, then ratio, one change at a time.
